One of only a few works of fiction from Crowley, with introductions from both Dennis Wheatley and Kenneth Grant. The story follows a young woman chosen by a secretive magical order to give birth to a homunculus - a being of supernatural power meant to influence the future of humanity. Opposing factions of magicians clash in a metaphysical battle filled with astral projections, rituals, and mystical philosophy. Written in 1917 during WW1, this story of a magickal war served as inspiration for Twin Peaks’ Black and White Lodges.
