Federico García Lorca, one of the major Spanish poets of the time, was murdered in 1936 during the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. The Franco regime sought to obfuscate the facts around his death and so the details were lost within a web of disinformation.
This is a completely revised and rewritten version of Gibson's earlier book The Death of Lorca. After being inundated with leads and letters following the release of that book, Gibson returned to Spain after Franco's death in '75 and reopened the case. The result is a complete reassessment which reconstructs the days leading up to Lorca’s death, unearthing political motives, local rivalries, and cultural tensions. A landmark in literary biography and historical inquiry.
